Where these numbers come from

Thirty years of records

Every temperature, rain count, and snowfall figure on this site comes from the U.S. Climate Normals published by NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information — the official 30-year record (1991–2020) of what each weather station in the country typically sees. When we say February in Orlando runs 75° by day, that’s three decades of Februaries talking, not a guess and not a forecast.

Each destination is paired with the weather station nearest to it — usually the airport. Mountain towns and island coasts can vary street by street, so treat the numbers as the honest center of the range, not a promise for your exact hotel balcony.

Water, sun, and humidity

Water temperatures for beach towns come from NOAA tide stations and offshore buoys, averaged month by month over the last several years of readings. Sunrise, sunset, and daylight hours follow the sun’s geometry for each latitude and date. Humidity is described from each station’s long-run dew point — the number that decides whether 90° feels breezy or like soup.

Where a station doesn’t measure something — snow at a beach, water temperature in the mountains — the page simply leaves it out. Nothing here is filled in by guesswork.

Typicals, never forecasts

A typical month is exactly that: typical. Any given year can run hotter, colder, or wetter than the long-run pattern, and no page on this site will ever tell you what the sky will do on your specific dates. For that, check a forecast the week you leave. What we can tell you — better than a ten-day forecast ever could — is what kind of month you're stepping into: what to pack, what the locals expect, and whether the water's warm enough to swim.
