What July feels like
This is the hottest month in the hottest place on the planet and it deserves to be treated as a hazard rather than a novelty — people are hurt here every summer doing ordinary things. It is also, absurdly, when the Badwater ultramarathon runs from the salt flats toward Mount Whitney; the runners start at night and even that is a stretch. If you come, drive, stay near the car, and be out at dawn or not at all.
Rain is genuinely rare — most years, July stays dry start to finish. Most afternoons push past 90°.
