Winter is Hueco Tanks season — the park runs on reservations and the guided tours book out weeks ahead, so sort that before you fly. Nights get properly cold, and every few winters a hard freeze arrives that breaks pipes across the city; the days, though, are made for the Franklin Mountains trails.
