What July feels like
The monsoon reaches the rim and the afternoon storms are the real hazard — an exposed viewpoint during lightning is exactly the wrong place to be, and rangers clear them. Inner-canyon heat peaks now, which is why the park tells people to stay off the trails below the rim between mid-morning and late afternoon. The corridor trails have water stations, and a sensible plan is built around where they are.
Expect about 4 days with real rain — enough to notice, not enough to plan around. about 10 afternoons top 90°.
