What January feels like
January is the cheapest and quietest month on the Plaza, and the light on adobe once the sun clears the Sangres is reason enough to be here. Bear in mind that town sits higher than the airport road, so it runs colder and holds snow longer than the valley does — and the drive up NM 475 to the ski basin is not one for bald tires.
Expect about 4 days with something falling — rain, snow, or the sloppy mix in between. Nearly every night dips below freezing.
